Don’t Forget the Beauty

Song with which to pair while reading this blog: “Heart Hope” by Oh Wonder

We don’t have to forget the beauty. In the midst of everything, we can call it in:

“…They’re building airplanes faster than the speed of light, yet it don’t bother me. The endless cities multiplying out oceansides, yet it don’t bother me. ‘Cause I need something more than everything: A higher Self deep within. ‘Cause I need something more than everything:

A higher Self, a higher Self.
And I know we need a little heart hope.
I know we gotta outgrow, and feel a little heart hope.
‘Cause there is something more than everything. So feel the love and let it in…”
(from “Heart Hope” by Oh Wonder)

There is so much going on on the planet these last few years and it’s only accelerating more. I wrote this piece, inspired in meditation and yoga this morning, in the hopes to bring awareness and a reminder that we can still perceive beauty even in the midst of the harshest, cruelest of times.

An insight from Vicktor Frankel, the author of “Man’s Search For Meaning”, points out that it is in fact our responsibility to know that, in the face of bearing life’s difficulties, we can see the opportunities as well. There are so many! I like the notion of responsibility that Frankel poses, and see it as the door through which we will survive as a species.

How do you relate to this? I’d like to know.

We don’t have to forget the beauty.

In the midst of our woes and our planet’s challenges there is still beauty that exists. There really is, just look up and look around. Take a breath and look all around you. Are you okay in this moment? Say “yes, and” instead of “no, but”. Let’s not forget the beauty. In anything we do, bear, or take on, it’s in you and all around you.

Enjoy the song. I chose it for its tone, to be read with this piece or at anytime for inspiration.
